The Greenbrier Classic betting tips and preview
The only player that beats Walker in that statistic is Andrew Putnam (66/1, 7 places), who also makes the staking plan.
This 29-year-old has been playing beautifully of late, and if he is to get off the mark at PGA Tour level, it’s likely to come here where par-4 scoring is rewarded more than most other stops in the calendar.
He was unlucky not to have won at the St Jude Classic only a few weeks ago, where he ranked first in greens in regulation, second in driving accuracy and third in scrambling. Only a sensational Dustin Johnson could stop him.
It was another solid finish last week at the Quicken Loans National, and if he can continue this recent form, there’s no reason as to why he can’t go close again here, even if he doesn’t have any course experience at The Old White.
Similarly, JJ Spaun (100/1, 8 places) has a lively chance of going close having finished 29th on debut here 12 months ago.
He’s put in two solid finishes in recent weeks having missed two cuts prior to the Travelers Championship, and he’s likely to improve on last week’s 27th place as this course should be right up his alley.
The Old White has only two par-5s which suits Spaun, who tends to lean on his par-3 and par-4 scoring as a result of his excellent approach play.
Having finished second at the RSM Classic last year, he certainly has the ability to win at this level, and this weak field will give him his best chance yet.
