Matthew Cort may have been lamenting the fact he left Qualifying School early, but it did not stop the Rothley Park players from finishing five clear of his rivals at Birstall.
Cort won the Leicester County Alliance recently, but said: “I was gutted. I was pleased to play well here, but I would love to have had the opportunity to get on the Tour.”
In firing five birdies for a four-under-par 66, Cort proved his pedigree over his rivals, the nearest of which finished five shots back.
