What happened at the CJ Cup?
His first start of the new PGA Tour season and that’s all Brooks Koepka needed to get his first win of the season.
Fresh from being crowned PGA Tour Player of the Year for last season, Koepka shot a final-round 64 to wrap up a comfortable win at the CJ Cup – his 12th title overall and third in his last 11 starts.
The day didn’t start quite how Koepka would have liked. His overnight four-shot lead was decimated by a birdie-fest from Gary Woodland, but the three-time major champion composed himself after the turn and a back-nine 29, including an eagle at the 72nd hole, was enough to get the job done.
Woodland’s 63 was bettered only by Ryan Palmer, who finished in a tie for 3rd, but it still wasn’t enough to get within four of Koepka.
Defending champion Justin Thomas finished in a tie for 36th at 5-under par.
