Tiger vs. Phil details are finalised – but will we be able to watch in the UK?
In this week’s edition of The Slam, we’ve got some more details about “The Match” between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
First of all, because this is golf the name of the event has to be preceded by the name of a huge corporation.
Drum roll, please! And the winner is Capital One! (It’s a bank.)
Incidentally, sponsorship of The Slam is available, so please get in touch and it could be YOUR name at the start of this video watched by tens of people every week.
So where and when will Capital One’s The Match be? Well, we already knew Tiger vs. Phil will take place at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas – in front of no fans – but now we have a date and time.
The pair will tee off on November 23 – which for some reason the Americans refer to as “the Friday after Thanksgiving” – at 12 noon. Don’t worry, I’ve done the maths for you. That’s 8pm here in the UK.
But wait! There’s more! It has been confirmed that “portions” – that’s their word, not mine – of the frankly ridiculous $9 million prize pot will go to charities of the players’ choices. They will also be able to issue on the spot challenges such as longest drive and nearest the pin, to their opponent, again with the winnings going to good causes.
So how much will these side bets be worth? And how many dollars exactly are there in a “portion”? Who knows?
But you’ll be able to watch it all unfold on Bleacher Report Live for the small price of $19.99. If you’re in the US or Canada, of course.

So will we be able to watch Tiger vs. Phil in the UK? (Legally, I mean.) I contacted Sky Sports and they told me that they are considering bidding for highlights, which would make sense for several reasons including its prime-time Friday night slot.
But full live coverage? Put your money on Eleven Sports. You remember, the streaming service on which we watched the PGA Championship?
At least that will be a welcome relief for all of those who forgot to cancel their subscription after the last major…
