Betting tips: Follow Fleetwood at the British Masters

Woburn hosts the return of the British Masters for the first time since 2008

The British Masters returns to Woburn this weekend after a seven year hiatus, with very few British based events on the European Tour calendar bar the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth – this is a great opportunity for golf fans to get a glimpse of some of the best players on the planet.

The second European Tour event on British soil, the never short of self-confidence – Ian Poulter is the nominal host of the tournament with it returning to his club for the first time since a 10 year spell during Seve’s reign supreme.

Despite this return to the programme, Sky Sports haven’t been able to entice Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson or surprise absentee Justin Rose to Woburn.

Instead we are treated to the young upstarts on the Tour in the forms of Shane Lowry, Danny Willett et al.

It promises to be a successful weekend for British golf despite the lack of ‘superstars’.

Tommy Fleetwood – 28/1

Southport man Fleetwood’s only win came on British soil at the 2013 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, so he knows how to win on the British Isles. Performed well with a sixth place finish at Wentworth in his last outing on English soil, means he knows how to perform at home. We think he’s got a win in him this season.

Eddie Pepperell – 50/1

His poor showing at the Dunhill Links, means the young Englishman is now offered at much longer odds than last week and is well worth a visit. Pepperell will be looking for a strong home performance, especially when considering he grew up less than an hour away, so it’s more than likely he knows the track well.

Gary Stal – 150/1

Without a win since his maiden victory earlier this year in the searing Dubai heat over Rory McIlroy, the Frenchman has all the attributes (including incredibly long odds) to appear at the top end of every European Tour event leaderboard. Big prices mean big returns so it’s well worth a punt on the 23-year old from Lyon.
