We get to know what makes one of the European Tour’s young upstarts tick

Q&A: Tyrrell Hatton tells us his 'Best and Worst'

After a break-out rookie year, Tyrrell Hatton is no longer one of the ‘new-boys’ on the European Tour. With the help of Hilton, we got his ‘Best & Worst’ of being a professional golfer.

Not short of confidence, Hatton is now ranked the 34th best golfer in the world right now.

Tyrrell Hatton: A Bio

Tyrrell, aged 25, hails from Buckinghamshire, England and was a very capable golfer at a young age. He started competing at the age of 5 winning titles at his home club. From the age of 15 he began to attract attention from the England U-18 section. At the age of 17 he represented England winning the Individual at the Canadian World Team Junior challenge.

For the next three years he excelled in the Amateur game which culminated in a full England cap and a semi-final place in the English Amateur championships. His 2010 and 2011 seasons have produced high quality finishes in the Lytham Trophy, Welsh Amateur Open, Portuguese Amateur, the English Amateur, playing in the 140th Open Championship at 18 years old and winning the 2010 Czech Amateur Open.

He turned professional in 2011 and competed on the EuroPro Tour and Jamega Tour where he recorded four wins within 12 months. This led to invitations to play the Challenge Tour in 2012 where he secured his card for 2013.

Finishing 10th on the Challenge Tour in 2013 he graduated to the European Tour for the 2014 season. In his Rookie year Tyrrell produced one of the best ever Rookie seasons earning a staggering EUROS 850,000 with five top 10s. Most notably he challenged at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where he finished in a very impressive 6th place.

In the first half of 2015 Tyrrell has secured Top 10 finishes in the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship, the Volvo China Open and a stunning 4th place finish (only 1 shot off the play off) in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Royal County Down.

This finish secured his 4th Open Championship start in 5 years. In the summer Tyrrell has finished 3rd in the Omega European Masters, T5th at the Paul Lawrie Matchplay (which saw him break into the Top 100 in the world) and T25th in the US PGA Championship. In 2016 Tyrrell had his breakthrough win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in October, broke into the Top 50 in the world, was runner up in the Scottish Open, had two Major top 10s, at The Open and the USPGA.
