Bob MacIntyre’s outrageous chip on the 17th at Sawgrass is already the best shot you’ll see at this year’s Players
Players debutant Robert MacIntyre is going to have a fun week at TPC Sawgrass – if this clip is anything to go by
One of the best things about Players Championship week is the wide array of shots we are treated to in both preview footage and on social media – particularly at the par-3 17th. This year, step forward Robert MacIntyre.

During a practice round on Tuesday the Scot, making his Sawgrass debut, found himself in a tricky position on the narrow walkway that connects the island green to the rest of the golf course.
And while a right-handed player would struggle from that position, it’s no such problem for lefty MacIntyre.
But instead of chipping on, he decided to grab a right-handed wedge and try to recreate Matt Kuchar’s famous backwards chip from 2015.
That year, Kuchar found the putting surface. MacIntyre, though, went one better.

Whether his tee shot ended there or he placed it for a bit of fun is as yet unknown. But one thing’s for sure, it’s going to be a fun week.
