A trip to the Open is enough to send beads of sweat trickling down the face of your bank manager. Everyone knows a visit to golf’s oldest major simply isn’t complete without bagging a suitcase full of merch from the on-site shop, and I never let the side down.
So let it not be said that we don’t look after you. If you are on your way to Royal Portrush this week, or if you just fancy a splurge online, we’ve already trudged our way round the superstore-sized outlet in the Open spectator village to find some diamonds for you.

Ball markers and tee pegs are a given. So let’s dive in and see what else we can find…
The shop at the Dunlcue Links is stacked with clothing from the best brands in the game, as you might imagine. The likes of Reflo, Peter Millar, Glenmuir, Malbon, The Open Collection and adidas dominate the shelves. There are many more too.
There is a vast array of accessories and luxury goods, too. A navy Open Adidas textured polo shirt was a popular choice, and this will set you back £70. If you’re short of things to cover your feet, you can also cash in on an Adidas 3-pack of trainer socks – which were £15.
Glenmuir make classy golf clothes, don’t they? This part of the store is very hard to resist whipping your wallet out. The Tayport Panel 1/4 Zip top in light blue was tempting, and this was £105.
Under Armour had some nice hoodies in the large construction in Spectator Village 1 in Antrim as well. The Drive Midlayer Hoodie was another one I saw people snooping around, priced at £75.
I noticed Fairway & Greene had a nice number for women’s golfers – a Julieta Sweatshirt no less. This was £160, and perhaps on the steep side when it comes to golf clothing. The Jill Sleeveless from the same brand was an alternative option that was getting extensive looks from the punters. That has a price tag of £105.

Golf fans love caps and love caps that mark which Open they went to. To get a Royal Portrush cap from the 153rd Open, you’ll have to part with £30. Again, maybe steep, but this is the ball park we are playing in nowadays.
The spectators are also partial to grabbing a yellow 18th hole flag from the Open Merchandise Shop. This can be hung up in the house, and kept forever and all for the price of £25.
If you are heading to Portrush this week in Northern Ireland and see a long, snakey queue for the Open Merchandise shop, have no fear. When we took on the queue ahead of the tournament, it would’ve been easy to walk away given the volume of the people, but it only took 20 minutes with people marginally spilling over the roped walkways.
Hopefully, you have a steer on what you might spend this year, so commit to the queue, stay diligent and say a prayer for your credit card.
