Weather forecast for the Masters: 2024

The Masters weather forecast for 2024 is an interesting one and while the opening round has been interrupted, the rest of the tournament should survive and thrive in bright sunlight.

On Tuesday, two days before the event begins, the weather forecasted showers in the morning but with pleasant periods of clouds and sun too. Wednesday was forecasted to be variably cloudy with a little bit of wind.

On Wednesday night, Augusta National provided this update:

“Due to forecasted weather on Thursday, we have decided to delay all gate openings in the morning. All Masters free parking will be closed until further notice while gate openings are delayed. Further updates will be shared no later than 5 am via Masters.com and social channels.”

Then on the morning of the first round, Augusta National provided another update:

“We continue to monitor the weather closely. Gate openings and tee times have been delayed until further notice. The first round will not begin before 9 am.”

According to our friends at Accuweather, heavy thunderstorms will arrive on day one of the Masters on Thursday and a couple of showers.

The thunderstorm could bring heavy downpours as well as hail and damaging wind gusts but once we get through the first day of play, Friday should be a day of some breeze but a lot of sun and pleasant weather.

Last year, bad weather caused play to be suspended and there were ugly scenes at Augusta National when a tree came down. Luckily, no one at the golf course was hurt.

Saturday is due to be a day full of sunshine with wind gusts of 16 mph and Sunday, the final round, should see more of the same dryness. There might be a little less sun, but there is currently a 0% chance of a thunderstorm on the last day of play.

Saturday’s third round should see only a little wind too and the temperature should feel 27 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the temperature should feel just under 29 degrees Celsius.

So, it seems we could be in for a glorious, uninterrupted weekend of golf in Georgia and the type of weather that the tournament and its beauty have become synonymous with.
