In 2023, Matt Fitzpatrick became the first benefactor of the first elevated purse that was attached to the RBC Heritage.
Compared to every previous year of the RBC Heritage in South Carolina, this $20 million purse was astronomical. Fitzpatrick beat Jordan Spieth in a playoff to win $3.6 million which was well more than double the winnings of any other winner of the event.
Spieth beat Patrick Cantlay in a playoff in the season before and he pocketed $1,440,000 of the $8 million purse at the time. This is obviously not pocket change, but the RBC Heritage is now part of the Signature Event structure on the PGA Tour.
The first time this event was played was in 1969 when Arnold Palmer beat Richard Crawford and Bert Yancey to win $20,000 of the $100,000 purse. How times have changed!

Here is the Signature Event schedule for the 2025 PGA Tour season. The Players Championship is not a Signature Event but offers 750 FedEx Cup points for the winner.
The Sentry: January 2 – 5
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: January 30 – Feb 2
Genesis Invitational: February 13 – 16
Arnold Palmer Invitational: March 6 – 9
RBC Heritage: April 17 – 20
Truist Championship: May 8 – 11
Memorial Tournament: May 29 – June 1
Travelers Championship: June 19 – 22
RBC Heritage Prize money 2025
Scottie Scheffler won the RBC Heritage for the first time in 2024. He carded a final-round 68 to beat Sahith Theegala by three shots. This was his fourth win on the PGA Tour that season and he subsequently won seven titles.
It was a monumental year for the Texan who also won the Masters for the second time. The $3.6 million he won was part of an incredible bag of money he collected. Scheffler earned $29,228,357 – a quite simply staggering number.
The prize money in 2025 will be the same. The RBC Heritage hasn’t got a cut and neither do four other events in the Signature schedule. At these no-cut events, 18% of the prize money goes to the winner.

At the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial, 20% of the purse goes to the winner. As the purses are $20 million, this means that $4 million goes to the winner which is the same as the winner’s prize at a LIV Golf event.
