Following the Masters, the PGA Tour flies straight into another Signature Event – the RBC Heritage.

It has a tough act to follow after Rory McIlroy won the Masters and completed the career grand slam with a dramatic playoff win over Justin Rose at Augusta National.

McIlroy is not in the field at Hilton Head, but Rose is, and so is defending champion and 2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler.

The RBC Heritage is one of the more well-known events on the PGA Tour, and it has been played every year since 1969.

Ever since its inception, the tournament has only had one venue – Harbour Town Golf Links – which has been the host of the event now for 56 years.

Scheffler comes in as the defending champion. The World No.1 donned the tartan jacket at Hilton Head in South Carolina the week after winning his second Green Jacket at Augusta National.

Scheffler beat Sahith Theegala by three shots and it was his fourth win of seven on the PGA Tour in 2024.

RBC Heritage Preview: FAQ

What are the RBC Heritage cut rules?

The RBC Heritage is one of eight Signature Events on the PGA Tour. Three of them (the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial and the Genesis Invitational) have cuts and this event is one of the five that don’t have a cut. So the RBC Heritage cuts rules say nothing! There is no cut.

When and where will the RBC Heritage take place?

The 2025 edition of the RBC Heritage will take place between April 17-20, and will be played (as always) at Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Who won last season’s RBC Heritage?

Scottie Scheffler took the title at Harbour Town in 2024. It was his first win at the RBC Heritage and it continued a super season in which he subsequently won the Memorial, the Travelers Championship and the Tour Championship.

What is the history of the RBC Heritage?

The RBC Heritage is one of the older events on the PGA Tour, dating back to its inaugural edition in 1969, where Arnold Palmer was victorious.

Ever since its inception as a PGA Tour, Harbour Town Golf Links has played host to the tournament. The event has gone through several name changes due to sponsorship, but it has always been known as the Heritage Classic. RBC came on board as the title sponsor for the 2012 edition.

Davis Love III won this tournament five times throughout his career, with victories stretching from 1987 to 2003. He is one of several multiple-time winners of the competition.

Hale Irwin and Stewart Cink have both won at Harbour Town three times, while Johnny Miller, Hubert Green, Tom Watson, Fuzzy Zoeller, Payne Stewart, Boo Weekley and Jim Furyk have all been victorious on two occasions.

How do golfers qualify to play at Harbour Town?

With the event being one of the eight Signature Events on the 2025 PGA Tour schedule, there is a smaller field at Harbour Town.

There are several ways of getting into the field, with players in the following categories qualifying:

  • Top 50 players in the previous season’s FedEx Cup standings
  • Aon Next 10 (the 10 highest-ranked players in the current FedEx Cup Standings, not already exempt, through the events leading up to the next Signature Event)
  • Aon Swing 5 (the top five points earners, not exempt from a higher category, from the tournaments between Signature Events)
  • Sponsors Invite (Each event will offer four sponsor exemptions and a tournament host exemption)
  • Current-year tournament winners (Players who win a PGA Tour event in the current year not exempt via a higher category)
  • PGA Tour members in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Rankings through the event preceding the Heritage
  • If you are Tiger Woods, you have a spot in every Signature Event

What are the odds for the 2025 RBC Heritage?

We’ll have the odds for the RBC Heritage available during tournament week.

Can LIV Golf players play at Harbour Town?

No, they cannot. With the RBC Heritage being an official PGA Tour event, we won’t be seeing any LIV Golf players teeing it up in Hilton Head Island.

How can I watch the RBC Heritage?

The event will be broadcast around the world by various broadcast partners. In the United Kingdom, action from all four days of the tournament will be shown live on Sky Sports – with the following schedule:

  • Thursday 17th – Sky Sports Golf from 12.30 pm
  • Friday 18th – Sky Sports Golf from 12.30 pm, Sky Sports Main Event from 10.30 pm
  • Saturday 19th – Sky Sports Golf from 12.30 pm, Sky Sports Main Event from 8.30 pm
  • Sunday 20th – Sky Sports Golf from 12.15 pm, Sky Sports Main Event from 9 pm
