New Zealand’s Harry Hillier is the latest player to join the sub-60 club, becoming the first in PGA Tour Americas history to card a 59.
There have been a number of sub-60 rounds so far in 2024, with Joaquin Niemann (LIV Golf Mayakoba) and John Catlin (International Series Macau) among them.
Three more sub-60 rounds have been carded on the Korn Ferry Tour, including the first ever 57 in tournament play. That came courtesy of Chilean Cristobal del Solar at the Astara Golf Championship, while Frankie Capan III and Aldrich Potgieter have also broken the barrier this year.
Hillier came into the second round of the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship at 4-under-par after an opening round of 68 at the Club El Rincon De Cajica in Bogota, Colombia
What would come on Friday would be much, much better…
How did Harry Hillier become a history maker with a 59?
The New Zealander started on the back nine for his second round of the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship, and he came flying out of the blocks.
There were birdies at 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 before a trio of pars brought his opening nine of the day to a close, making the turn in 30, 6-under-par for the day.
He then kicked on again, making birdies on the first seven holes of the course to put himself in prime position to make a 59.
Pars on the tough 8th and 9th at Club El Rincon De Cajica, saw him home on the magical number, making history in the process!
