Watch Willett implode on final hole to squander PGA Tour victory
Golf can be cruel. Just ask Danny Willett. The Englishman was just four-feet away from a first PGA Tour victory since winning the Masters in 2016 before the stuff of nightmares transpired on the final green at the Fortinet Championship.
One ahead of Max Homa and dialled in close on the 18th at Silverado, it looked as if the first PGA Tour event of the season could be handed to Willett there and then. That was before the most insane finishes took place in California.
Off the green and needing a miracle, Homa sent the gallery berserk when he hammered home his pitch for birdie to leave everything on his English playing partner…
Then, the horror show began. With one hand still on the trophy, up stepped Willett to seal victory from four-feet before the most relatable, gut wrenching scenario unfolded. Warning, viewer discretion is advised…

As for Homa, the American couldn’t believe his luck as he awkwardly watched on to retain the Fortinet Championship.
Willett’s wait for a second PGA Tour win now continues, but ever classy in defeat, the Englishman offered this graceful response following the mighty collapse.
“Disappointing way to finish, but you know, first event of the season, to be in contention, things are in a good place.” Willett said. “We’ll live to fight another day.
“[It’s] just a shame how I finished, but that’s golf. We’re going to do it again another day.”
