Report
Andrew Putnam was victorious for the first time on the PGA Tour this week, winning by four points in the modified Stableford format to claim the Barracuda Championship title.
He scored nine points in Sunday’s final round, bringing him up to a total of 47 in the format where a birdie is worth two points, and an eagle five, while a bogey sees golfers lose a point, while double is a loss of three.
This was Putnam’s 49th start on the PGA Tour, and the victory at Montreux Golf & Country Club earns the American a place in the field for the PGA Championship at Bellerive.
Chad Campbell finished runner-up after a strong final round where he scored 11 points, coming home four behind Putnam.
J.J. Spaun and John Oda, the latter being a Monday qualifier for the tournament, finished tied 3rd, with an eagle on the last pushing Ollie Schneiderjans into the top five.
The entirety of the top ten was filled with Americans, with Sam Saunders and Vaughn Taylor among them. C.T. Pan and Benjamin Silverman were the leading non-Americans, finishing T11.
