Top 6: Players who could break their major duck in 2017
Thomas Pieters
If people hadn’t heard of Thomas Pieters before 2016 then they certainly had by the end. The Belgium golfer the Made in Denmark tournament on the European Tour and finished fourth at the Olympics to convince Darren Clarke to hand him a wildcard pick for the Ryder Cup.
Pieters played alongside Rory McIlroy for most of the Ryder Cup and performed above and beyond the Northern Irishman. Pieters came out of the Ryder Cup with four wins and one loss to his name and will have gained even more experience than Fitzpatrick having played to an exceptional standard and he take that into 2017.
If he can perform at the level he did at the Ryder Cup then there is no reason why he can’t win a major. Pieters recently showed off his invite to the Masters on social media and will play in the tournament for the first time.
At the age of 24 he has still got time to improve and you’d like to think if he doesn’t win one in 2017 then he will do in the near future.
