Shot penalties to DQs: How YOU would deal with slow play
The final group at a major championship could be forgiven for taking a little extra time with the stakes as high as they are – but is three hours for nine holes acceptable?
Well, that’s how long leaders Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and Kevin Kisner took at Quail Hollow on moving day.
And, it seems everyone was in agreement that is was just ridiculous:
@PGATOUR needs to start giving penalty strokes for slow play. Used to teach #golf but can't be bothered to watch 5,5hr rounds. #slowdeath

Who decided it was a good idea to be Jason day and hideki matsuyama in the same group? Please assess a slow play penalty #PGAChampionship

I have turned over to the men's 4 X 100. If I watch it 255 times I will miss the back 9.

So, we asked what YOU would do about slow play during tournaments… with some surprising responses:

Employ the opposite to speeding fines 2 shot penalty for first offence then another up to 6 Ltd then its a ban or massive fine say £100k

If they don't speed up, shot penalties followed by DQ. Simples
