Phil Mickelson‘s caddie and brother Tim Mickelson is calling time on his career inside the ropes.
The six-time major champion announced that Tim would be retiring from caddying in a post on X on Tuesday afternoon with images of the pair winning the 2021 PGA Championship together at Kiawah Island.
“I’ve had some great accomplishments in my career and getting to share them with my brother Tim has been beyond special. I’m very lucky to have had him on the bag for me the past eight years and as my brother for life,” Mickelson wrote.
“So much has changed since he was single and we started working together. He’s found his life partner, Maranda, they’ve had their second son, and hopefully, their family will continue to grow.
“While Tim is retiring from caddying, I’ll always cherish the many great moments we’ve shared on the course and I look forward to many more special moments off the course too.”

Mickelson did not specify when Tim would be dropping his looping duties, as we are four events into the 2024 LIV Golf season, or who would be replacing him in the white bib.
Golfweek has since reported that experienced PGA Tour caddie Jon Yarbrough will carry for Mickelson at the next LIV Golf event in Miami and at the Masters.
Yarbrough has previously worked for Scott Stallings, Gary Woodland, Bill Haas, Smylie Kaufman and LPGA Tour stars Morgan Pressel and Suzann Pettersen.
Tim started working for his older brother after he split with Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay in 2017, having enjoyed an illustrious career with his experienced, longtime caddie that brought five major trophies and a hell of a lot more on the PGA Tour.
Before this, Tim used to be an agent and the agent of two-time major champion Jon Rahm. He was also the head coach at Arizona State University and the University of San Diego.

He also has a tour start to his name. Tim played in the 1999 Buick Invitational.
The pair have certainly endured a period of both success on the course and turbulence off it. Mickelson left behind the PGA Tour to join the LIV Golf League, being one of the first names to sign on the dotted line for the Saudi-funded circuit and he has played in every event since its inception in June 2022.
