Jon Rahm is linked with a sensational switch to LIV Golf.

Rumours emerged when Flushing It posted on X to say the Masters champion was “in late-stage talks” with the Saudi-funded series.

The report says negotiations are “intensifying” but Rahm would apparently like the league’s format to be modified.

The Spaniard withdrew from TGL Golf earlier this month, explaining that “it would require a level of commitment that he can’t offer.”

Rahm was one of the first players to sign for Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s new initiative which will feature a number of the PGA Tour’s biggest stars.

Phil Mickelson, a friend of Rahm, said “a lot of players” wanted to join LIV Golf back in October and Bubba Watson echoed this prospect too.

Rahm was seen finishing tied for fifth in last week’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

NGG has since contacted LIV Golf’s acting chief operating officer in 2023 Gary Davidson who said there was “nothing to add.”

NCG has reached out to Rahm’s management who are also yet to comment on the speculation.

Rory McIlroy is adamant that Rahm won’t move to the circuit he has previously confessed to hate.

“I spoke to Jon a couple of days ago and would be very, very surprised if that were to happen,” McIlroy said at a press conference with his TGL Golf team.

“I’m pretty confident Jon is a PGA Tour player.”

In September 2022, Rahm denied a rumour that he was leaving the PGA Tour while at that year’s US Open, he said his heart was with the PGA Tour.

But the 29-year-old has previously said he would miss Sergio Garcia on future European Ryder Cups teams following his compatriot’s DP World Tour resignation.

Rahm also congratulated Pat Perez on his move to LIV Golf last year and publicly congratulated Eugenio Chacarra for winning a LIV event in Bangkok.

His approach to the divide in professional golf has been markedly different from McIlroy’s. Rahm recently ruled out taking up a leadership role on the PGA Tour policy board following the Northern Irihsman’s resignation.
