Anthony Kim will make his LIV Golf debut this week in Saudi Arabia.

The 38-year-old will make his first professional start in 12 years in the league’s third event of the season in Jeddah.

LIV’s chief executive Greg Norman posted a promotional video of Kim’s arrival on February 26. The American will play as a wildcard and won’t be part of a team.

LIV Golf officially announced the signing on February 28 and stated Kim will be looking to earn enough individual points for the rest of the season to earn a team spot in 2025.

“After stepping away from the game years ago due to injury, I’m happy to officially announce my return to the world of professional golf,” Kim said.

“It’s been a long time coming, and I’m very grateful for all the highs, lows and lessons learned from the first part of my career.

“I want to compete with the best players in the world, and I’m on a mission to prove to myself that I can win again. The next step on that journey starts now, and I’m excited to give everything I’ve got this season on the LIV Golf League.”

Kim’s return to the game on the LIV Golf roster at Royal Greens and Country Club was first reported by Flushing It on social media.

At the end of January, Golf.com reported that Kim had been ramping up his preparation to come back, but hadn’t decided to take the LIV route or the PGA Tour route at that stage.

Anthony Kim: LIV Golf sign three-time PGA Tour winner

After turning professional in 2006 as a 21-year-old, Kim made his debut on the PGA Tour in the same year. He earned his tour card and played his rookie season in 2007.

He won the Wachovia Championship and the AT&T National in 2008 which helped him to earn a spot on the American Ryder Cup team at Valhalla that year.

Kim became a fan favourite with his exciting personality and style on the course and off it. He helped the USA to beat Europe by taking down Ryder Cup legend Sergio Garcia 5&4 in the Sunday singles.

He would win one more time on the PGA Tour at the Shell Houston Open in 2010 but injuries would go on to derail his promising career.

His last appearance on the US circuit came in 2012 – the same year he had surgery on the Achilles tendon in his left leg.

Kim has been a man of mystery for over a decade, a period in which he’s rarely been spotted in public life.

His last interview was with Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press in 2015 in which he revealed he was receiving payments from an insurance policy he took out in 2010 in case he got injured.
