The Walker Cup is the amateur version of the Ryder Cup, but it is pleased between the teams of Great Britain and Ireland and America. It is a tournament where stars are born and first begin to pave their way in the sport.
It was established in 1922 and in recent years, the United States have been dominant. The red, white and blue have won the last four renewals. They have also won eight of the last 10, emphasising their control over the team match-play event.
We’ve pictured 15 players before many of us knew who they were. They range from current stars who still compete at the top of the game, to old favourites that were at their peak in yesteryear.
