Congratulations to David Howell!

After just under 30 years in the professional game, Howell has made his 722nd start on the DP World Tour – overtaking the previous high mark belonging to Miguel Angel Jimenez.

The Englishman turned professional in 1995 and he won a European Tour event for the first time in 1999 at the Dubai Desert Classic.

His most recent win on the DP World Tour came at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2013, the event where he has now broken this proud record in 2023.

“You start off trying to get on tour, you want to earn a living. You eventually realise you’re going to do that, and you have big hopes of winning tournaments, eventually Ryder Cups,” he said in Scotland.

“But I don’t think you’d ever dream of being here this many years later and overtaking first, Sam (Torrance), and eventually, Miguel (Angel Jimenez), who still goes strong, as we know. It’s been a life’s work and it’s been amazing.”

Below we have the rundown of the top 10 players in the appearance-made department of the DP World Tour:

FAQ

What does DP World Tour stand for?

In November 2021, the European Tour was retitled as the DP World Tour as part of a sponsorship agreement with the Dubai-based company DP World.

DP World was founded in 2005 and it specialises in cargo logistics, port terminal operations and free trade zones. DP World reportedly handles 70 million containers brought in on roughly 70,000 vessels.

How to watch the coverage

The DP World Tour is regularly shown on Sky Sports Golf in the United Kingdom. All four days of play are regularly shown each weekend.

What is the DP World Tour?

The DP World Tour is the present name for what many golf fans once knew as the European Tour.

The DP World Tour hosts events across Europe, Asia and Africa throughout each season, as well as collaborating with the PGA Tour and various other organisations to co-sanction tournaments in other regions such as America and Australia.

Is it part of the PGA Tour?

The DP World Tour isn’t part of the PGA Tour, but they share a strategic alliance which was extended in the simmer of 2022 until 2035.

The original partnership was formed in November 2020 and was formed to benefit both tours – such as bringing new title sponsors and increased prize purses to the DP World Tour.

As part of the extension of the alliance, the PGA Tour increased its stake in European Tour Productions from 15% to 40%.

Also, the top 10 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings will earn cards to play on the PGA Tour in 2024.
