It’s a new era for the UK’s biggest development league as they commit to larger prize funds and more routes into the DP World Tour

Clutch Pro Tour announces 'revolutionary' incentives for 2023

In a groundbreaking development, the Clutch Pro Tour have announced they will ‘revolutionising’ their framework for 2023 to include “incredible financial incentives” alongside more routes into the DP World Tour.

Continuing their partnership with Mizuno, the circuit’s Miz Next Gen Series will expand to provide a two tier system with a minimum season payout of £1.8 million.

In the revised framework, Tier 1 events will guarantee a purse of £60,000 per tournament, with three events boasting a £100,000 minimum. Tier 2 events will then guarantee a purse of £30,000.

On top of that, the Clutch Pro Tour will be providing over 40 invites onto the Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, helping to continue its core mission of developing up and coming talent.

“We are exceptionally proud to present our plans for 2023, a strategy that will revolutionise development golf,” Clutch Pro Tour CEO Tom Hayward said in a statement. “We are driven by a passion to support our members and we look forward to welcoming golfers from across Europe to our tour in 2023.”

Hosting tournaments across the UK, the Clutch Pro Tour remains the country’s biggest developmental league, and has continued to experience rapid growth since partnering with Mizuno in 2020.

“Ultimately, it’s a very player focused product,” Hayward told NCG on The Slam podcast. “We’re trying to do everything we can for the players. We wanted to try and provide a system and create our own little ecosystem, so these players aren’t just discarded and told to come back next year.

“We feel strongly that for the last couple of years, our product has been the best product on the market anywhere in terms of mini tour development golf.”

Having held 25 events in 2022, the Tour also provides opportunities for its female golfers to obtain invites to Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour tournaments.

Notable Clutch Pro Tour alumni include Charley Hull, Andy Sullivan, David Howell and Meghan Maclaren.

“Everyone’s very excited,” Hayward continued. “They knew that we were working hard to improve the project and improve the model for them, but they weren’t expecting the levels that we’ve managed to go to in terms of prize funds.”
