After becoming a free agent from LIV Golf, Bernd Wiesberger has paid his sanctions and now he is a reinstated member on the DP World Tour

LIV Golf’s Bernd Wiesberger has been granted DP World Tour membership in 2024.

The Austrian’s place in the Race to Dubai in 2023 was removed and his membership ceased having only played in two counting events.

DP World Tour chief executive Keith Pelley has granted Wiesberger his playing rights in 2024 after he requested reinstatement.

“He subsequently expressed his desire to play a full DP World Tour schedule in 2024 and has fulfilled all sanctions – both financial and tournament suspensions – that were imposed upon him for breaches of the Tour’s conflicting event regulation across 2022 and 2023,” the tour wrote in a statement.

“Consequently, his request for reinstatement has been granted by DP World Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley, in accordance with the procedure set out in the Members’ Regulations.

“Wiesberger will be exempt in Category 11 for the 2024 season.”

Category 11 offers exemptions to the 40 members on the 2023 career money list who meet less than 4 of the additional qualifying criteria for this category.

Wiesberger has since stated on X that his focus will “entirely be on the DP World Tour” next year.

“I have never resigned my membership and therefore I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to play a full schedule once again,” he added.

“Included in that will be the traditional National Championships that are such a big part of the tour where I have enjoyed some success in the past.”

Wiesberger finished between 25th-44th following the conclusion of LIV Golf’s individual standings which meant he was no longer under contract.

His former Cleeks GC teammate Graeme McDowell is in the same boat, as was American Pat Perez who has now re-signed for 4Aces GC.

The 38-year-old was the first pick in LIV’s first-ever team draft in 2022 and had won eight times on the DP World Tour before moving to the Saudi-funded series.

He played in his first Ryder Cup in 2021 in Whisting Straits and he can now attempt to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
