You know we love a good hole-in-one story here at NCG HQ and this one – while perhaps not as remarkable a feat as others we’ve written about – is still pretty cool.
Former New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key, was playing in a charity event at Royal Auckland & Grange Golf Club when he canned his fairway wood on the par-3 8th of the Middlemore nine.
And what made it even better was that Key made his ace in front of a star-studded crowd that included three-time DP World Tour winner Ryan Fox, and All Blacks rugby stars David Havilli, Will Jordan, Damian McKenzie, and Anton Lienert-Brown.
Key, who was in office for eight years between 2008 and 2016 and is no stranger to the golf scene having teed up in past pro-ams alongside the likes of Lydia Ko, and the other celebrity golfers – which also included cricketers and Olympians – were playing in the charity day for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Fox tweeted later that it was “epic to be a part of” and that the hole-in-one “was a pure strike from JK”.
