Terre Blanche | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Terre Blanche is the leading French resort on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, and perhaps the most charming. The provencal resort is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses, cutting-edge golf academy and practice facilities, as well as a 5-star hotel and wellness facility.

The two championship courses at Terre Blanche - Le Chateau and Le Riou - offer different challenges. Le Chateau is the no.1 course and the longer of the two at more than 7,200 yards, but it is Le Riou which hosts an annual event on the Ladies European Tour Access Series, the feeder tour to the Ladies European Tour.

Terre Blanche is also home to the Albatros Performance Centre, where golfers can improve their game. With a huge 64-bay driving range, Biomecaswing Centre and TaylorMade Performance Centre, this is a serious, science- based facility.

Away from the golf, Terre Blanche has a sublime spa and wellness facility, with elegant colonnaded pool, saunas, steam rooms, relaxation rooms and a Zen Garden. Massages and treatments are available from certified therapists.

Terre Blanche is an all-suite resort with accommodation for couples, groups and families. Rooms are designed in a homely, provencal style and all have a balcony or terrace, with romantic views over the rolling countryside.
Plots of lands are also available to buy in a range of spots around the resort, for those looking to construct their own property and stay longer-term at the Provencal resort.

Terre Blanche Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Two Championship Golf Courses

Terre Blanche is the home to two championship level 18-hole golf courses; Le Chateau and Le Riou. The latter is only 6,560 yards long, but it is the host of the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, an event held yearly on the Ladies European Tour Access Series.

The last hole on both nines of Le Riou are stunning tests of your ability. With water down the right side of both, the approach shot into each green is then played over water on the 9th, and with the water behind on the 18th.

Le Chateau is a longer track, playing at more than 7,200 yards from the tips of the course. Like its sibling, Le Chateau is known for its stunning water features, which come in throughout the round. It is a hillier course than Le Riou, and provides some incredible views of the region.

The Albatros Performance Center

The Albatros Performance Center is a state of the art facility. There is a driving range with 64 bays, half of which are floodlit and undercover, and the venue is the home to the Terre Blanche Golf Academy. The Albatros Center’s range features TopTracer technology, which allows you to track your shots and play games to make practice fun.

There is also a Biomecaswing Centre. Jean-Jacques Rivet is the man who runs it, which is the only one of its kind in Europe. The Centre combines the use of biomechanics with modern technology. This allows for analysis of the golf swing, helping amateurs and professionals alike to refine their swings and movement.

There is also a TaylorMade Performance Centre on site, staffed by TaylorMade professionals who can help to provide you with analysis and information on which clubs you should be using to help improve your game.

The Terre Blanche Golf Academy, run by Head Professional Vincent Jouhaud, offers a range of programs designed for different categories of golfers, from children taking their first steps in the game, to experienced golfers looking to fine-tune their swing.

They provide tuition in four main categories. The Golf School focuses on children and youths who are learning the game for the first time and also adult beginners who are in the same boat. There is a tuition group aimed specifically at those who are advanced but want to get that extra 5 or 10% out of their game and finally, the Golf Academy provides the ‘Campus Formula’ for elite golfers looking for marginal gains.

Luxury Accommodation

The Terre Blanche hotel offers guests tranquillity in a stunning location, designed as a Provencal village and emulating the local stone architecture to sit naturally and harmoniously in its environment. The 5-star hotel has 115 rooms, suites and villas, all designed in a comfy, traditional style in keeping with the region.

There are six types of room and villa available, from premier and deluxe suites up to six-bedroom prestige villas, this French resort has a little bit of everything in terms of accommodation.

At Terre Blanche, there is also the option to purchase real estate. The resort has three areas with plots of land to build a bespoke home. Le Bois de Fontmerle is situated in between the two golf courses, while Le Bois Fleuri and Le Bois des Rouvières are at the south side of the resort.

Spa & Wellness Centre

Terre Blanche not only does golf well, but it does relaxation to the highest level as well. The spa and wellness centre at the resort is top class, and provides programmes and treatments to help the mind, body and soul.

The Fitness Club at the Spa & Wellness Centre has state of the art equipment, including Technogym Plurima and Kinesis training stations. There are also a wide range of classes in the fitness club including pilates, circuit training, zumba and yoga.

There is an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor vitality pool for guests to relax in, plus sauna, steam room, sensory shower and laconium. Terre Blanche’s wellness centre also provides body treatments, facial treatments and massages, all provided by a team of certified therapists.
