Lighthouse Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Lighthouse Golf Course

The championship golf course at Lighthouse was designed by former Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam, and it has been under the European Tour Properties banner since 2016. The venue has quickly become one of the best golfing resorts in Bulgaria, alongside neighbours Black Sea Rama and Thracian Cliffs.

Thanks to Woosnam’s British background, he designed the championship golf course at Lighthouse to be more of a links design. There are five lakes around the course, while the 18-hole lay-out winds its way beautifully through the landscape and the properties on the resort.

The short par-4 4th hole is the first sighting of those lakes. At just 350 yards, the hole is certainly a birdie opportunity, but the lake down the left side of the fairway will take any errant shots. 16 and 17 then play around the same lake at the back end of the golf course. The 16th is a 525-yard par-5 from the back tees, while 17 is the final short hole on the property. Lighthouse comes to a close with a lengthy par-4, which winds its way back to the clubhouse.

The golf course was the host venue for the European Tour Destinations Senior Classic on what is now known as the European Legends Tour, in 2018. The three-day competition saw Sweden’s Magnus Persson Atlevi win by three shots.

Lighthouse Golf Academy

Away from the championship golf course, Lighthouse is also the home to its own Golf Academy. There is a driving range which is almost 350 yards long to accommodate even the longest of hitters. There are 24 bays, eight of which are covered.

As well as the driving range, the Lighthouse Golf Academy also has a stunning short game area, which includes a putting green and a chipping area, as well as a couple of bunkers for golfers to practise their games from the sand before a round.

Coaching and tuition are both available at the Lighthouse Golf Academy, with a team of PGA-qualified professionals on hand. Bulgarian, English and French options are available to try and accommodate all golfers who come to the resort.

Lighthouse Golf & Spa Hotel

Away from the golf, the Lighthouse Golf & Spa Resort is home to the 5-star Lighthouse Golf & Spa Hotel, which is beautifully pitched on a plateau overlooking the white cliffs of the Black Sea.

There are more than 170 offerings when it comes to accommodation at the Lighthouse Golf & Spa Hotel, with 156 of those being Superior Rooms, which can be changed to sleep twin or double beds. There are then 12 Club Suites and four Exclusive Penthouse Suites, with two of those featuring their own private swimming pools.

Even the most standard of the rooms at the Lighthouse Golf & Spa Hotel come with their own private terrace so guests can enjoy views of either the Black Sea or the golf course. There are also interconnected rooms for larger groups who are travelling together.

Lighthouse Spa & Activities

For guests who want to enjoy some relaxation time during a stay on the Black Sea coastline, the Lighthouse Spa provides the perfect haven for that. The serene environment provides the perfect setting for guests to relax and unwind.

The Spa is free of charge for guests to enjoy, while a range of massages and treatments are also on offer. Spa rituals and aromatic oils are included, with Balinese, Thai and anti-cellulite massages available for guests.

Along with the spa, there are a range of activities on offer. Two tennis courts made from artificial grass, a 5-a-side astroturf football pitch, mini-golf, water sports, biking, jogging, swimming classes and much more are all on offer.
