La Quinta | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

La Quinta is one of Spain’s best golfing resorts, and is situated halfway between Gibraltar and Malaga, with both airports within an hour’s drive from the resort. The home to 27 stunning golf holes, the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa Hotel and the Heavenly Spa by Westin, La Quinta is a glorious place for a golfing holiday.

The 27 holes of championship golf are split into three nines, much like Palmares and Vila Sol. The San Pedro, Ronda and Guadaiza nines all offer different challenges, with a variety of deep bunkers, sloping fairways and tree-lined holes. England’s Melissa Reid and Anne van Dam of the Netherlands have been victorious at La Quinta, winning the Open de Espana Feminino in 2011 and 2018, respectively. The first of those tournaments saw La Quinta achieve its championship status.

The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa is the home to more than 160 rooms. From guest rooms to the luxurious Presidential Suite, there is something for everyone at the hotel. Junior Suites and Executive Suites are also on offer, with views either over the swimming pool, gardens or golf courses.

The hotel is also the home to the Heavenly Spa by Westin, where a range of treatments and massages are on offer. Guests can enjoy these, or simply relax and unwind in the saunas, steam baths, hammam and more. There is also a fitness centre equipped with the latest gym technology.

La Quinta Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

27 Holes of Brilliance

Like a number of courses on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, La Quinta has 27 holes split into three sets of nine - San Pedro, Ronda and Guadaiza. The golf course at La Quinta Golf & Country Club is truly superb. Designed by Manuel Pinero and Antonio Garcia Garrido, the three nines are all different.

The Guadaiza is the longest and the most technical of the three loops of nine at La Quinta, measuring at more than 3,200 yards from the back tees. Both the San Pedro and the Ronda are less than 3,000 yards, but still provide their own challenges despite being shorter courses.

The venue achieved its championship status in 2011, when La Quinta was the host venue for the Open de Espana Feminino. England’s Melissa Reid won the event, with Dutchwoman Anne van Dam winning at the same venue seven years later.

Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa

The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa is the accommodation offering at the resort, and it provides captivating views of the region. The hotel plays host to 170 rooms, each of which comes with its own private terrace or balcony to enjoy those views.

There are a range of rooms, including three types of Suites, at the Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa. Each of these offerings has elegant decor and soothing tones to allow guests to relax during a stay at the resort. The Classic Room is the most standard at the hotel, and can come with either a King-sized bed or two twin beds.

From there, the range of rooms get ever more luxurious. Deluxe Rooms have a larger living area, while the Classic Panoramic Rooms and Deluxe Panoramic Rooms have stunning views of either the pools, gardens or mountains from their terraces.

Junior Suites are ideal for travellers who want more space than a normal hotel room. Their open floor plans comprise a comfortable sofa, a dining table, and a gorgeous balcony or terrace to enjoy the weather. The Executive and Presidential Suites just add even more layers of luxury on top, with the latter featuring its own Jacuzzi in the bathroom.

Heavenly Spa by Westin
