Crecy | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Crecy is one of the leading French resorts on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, and it is not hard to see why. With two stunning golf courses, incredible and unique accommodation offerings, and situated less than an hour from the centre of Paris, Crecy is a sublime golfing venue.

27 holes are split across Crecy’s two courses. The original 9-hole Montpichet has been there since the golf course was founded in the late 1980s. The 18-hole Vignoly Course is the championship offering at Crecy, and it is the only golf course in France to be designed by the late Arnold Palmer. There are 14 lakes and more than 60 bunkers on the course for you to watch out for. A driving range and short game area are also part of the facilities at the Crecy Golf Club.

When it comes to accommodation, Domaine des Crecy has some of the most unique offerings we have seen on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list. There is nothing out of the ordinary about Hotel Les Suites, which has 28 spacious and luxurious suites, ranging from Junior Suites through to Master Suites.

However, at Domaine des Crecy, guests have the opportunity, if they want to, to sleep in an animal sanctuary. The Parrot World Lodges is a set of three lodges that are within animal enclosures. The Lodge Jaguar, Lodge Panantal and Lodge Amazonie provide guests with amazing wake-up calls and views of big cats and low-flying birds.

Crecy Overview | NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts

27 Stunning Holes of Golf

Crecy is lucky to have two courses - the 18-hole Vignoly Course and the 9-hole Montpichet Course. The former was designed by the great Arnold Palmer.

Vignoly Course
The Vignoly Course has the great honour of being the only course in France designed by the great Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Crecy features more than 60 bunkers and 14 water hazards across the 18-hole lay-out, making it a stern test for golfers of any ability.

The 6,957 yard course, which opened in 2009 as an addition to the 9-hole Montpichet Course, is stunning. There is no gentle opening to the course either, with a strong dog-leg right par-4 on the perimeter of the property to get you on your way. Water first comes into play on the par-5 2nd hole, which sees two lakes join the left side of the hole, while anything right is out of bounds. It is a very tricky start on the Vignoly.

The 3rd is a par-3, and it is also the third hardest hole on the course. The hardest hole is the 5th, just to add to that difficult opening section. The course opens out slightly around the turn, with fewer trees on the back nine of the course. The Vignoly ends with back-to-back par-5s, first the dog-leg left 17 going away from the edge of the property, before the dog-leg right 18th comes back to finish by the road.

Montpichet Course
The Montpichet Course has been around since Crecy opened in 1987. The 9-hole course, known as La Brie Montpichet when it opened, is an ideal track for golfers who are just learning their games.

Crecy Golf Academy

The Crecy Golf Academy works out of the practice facilities at the golf course, which sit at the southern side of the property, behind the Domaine des Crecy. These facilities include a driving range and short game area.

The driving range at the Crecy Golf Academy features a row of matted bays, which are covered from any inclement weather to allow practice year-round. There is also a set of grass tees in front of the building for when the weather is nice. The short game area features a big putting green, which also doubles as the chipping green. There is a bunker to the north of the green, allowing for golfers to practise their sand shots before taking on either of the courses.

The Academy uses the Easiest Swing method, which was developed by Brian Sparks. It is the only academy in France to use the technique, and the Academy offers a wide range of tuition, including individual and group lessons, as well as a golf school for kids.

Domaine des Crecy

The Domaine des Crecy has two offerings when it comes to its accommodation - Hotel Les Suites and the Parrot World Lodges.

Hotel Les Suites
The Hotel Les Suites provides a luxurious place for guests to stay on the grounds of Crecy Golf Club. Each offering in the hotel is a suite, with each room coming equipped with a kitchen, living room, and a bathroom.

There are 28 spacious suites on offer at Hotel Les Suites, which come in a range of forms. There are Junior Suites, Suites, Superior Suites and Master Suites, with the latter being the premium choice at the hotel.

Parrot World Lodges
Offering something completely different to anything else on the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, the Parrot World Lodges allow its guests the opportunity to relax and unwind while in the presence of animals.

The Lodge Jaguar is perched three metres above the ground and has incredible views of the jaguars in their natural habitat. The Lodge Amazonie stands on stilts to appreciate the parrots of the resort, while the Lodge Panantal offers stunning views of ibis, kamichis and herons.
