All the Gear: Stewart Golf take it to the next level, and Wilson launch new irons

In her latest equipment round up, Hannah Holden takes a closer look at the Stewart Golf Q Follow, Wilson's new irons, and a £20,000 putting green

If you are after a product that is going to bring an extra level of enjoyment to your game I don’t think you need to look any further than the new Q follow trolley from Stewart Golf. I test a lot of new golf gear and honestly this is the product I have enjoyed trying out the most in 2020. It really is like having your own caddie.

For those not familiar with Stewart Golf, this is their seventh generation trolley and the follow setting means you can go fully hands-free out on the golf course.

A mixture of three-dimensional distance measurement technology and Bluetooth allows the trolley to follow you down the fairway giving you complete freedom out on the course.

So how does it stay stable out on the course? An innovative stabiliser is combined with a low centre of gravity to control the trolley even on undulating slopes and steep hills.

It also has bluetooth remote control options allowing you to control the trolley from up to 50 metres away and you can control it with the handle should you wish.

The structure are manufactured using a unique and lightweight microcellular composite structure. This provides extra strength thanks to its honeycomb like form. Each unit is completely hand built at their headquarters in Gloucestershire and has a unique carbon fibre finish.

Another great feature is the free smartphone app that lets you monitor your battery usage and remaining capacity in real time. No more worrying about if your battery is going to make it to the 18th.

I put the Stewart Golf Q Follow through its paces. Stay tuned for the full review coming very soon…

Wilson add new CB offering to iron line-up

The new Wilson Staff Model CB irons are engineered to meet the high performance standards expected by elite golfers and come into replace the previous Tour V6 offering.

I have to say these look great and I love the mirror finish on the nickel-chrome plating here. I would say Wilson are really killing it in terms of irons aesthetics especially with some of their recent tour focussed releases.

Stewart Golf

The Cb’s feature a forged 8620 carbon steel face supported by an integrated impact mass area. By adding mass behind the club face you get a more solid, muscle back-like feel but still benefit from the extra consistency that the cavity back design delivers.

They also feature 20 grams of tungsten weighting in the toe of the longer irons adding stability at impact. A tri-Brace stabilizer provides a connection between the top line and the centre of mass at impact helping to transfer more energy to the ball.

We see the same precision milled face and score lines we saw in the Staff Model Blade.

Get the putting green used by the stars

You may not have heard of the Zen Green Stage but you probably recognise it from social media with players like Ian Poulter regularly posting videos from it and coaches like Phil Kenyon doing the majority of his teaching on it. It is also a staple of the Sky Sports Golf studio and a key part of their live demonstrations.

It is a fully adjustable putting green, which connects up to your phone or tablet so you can recreate any slopes you might experience out on the golf course. It has been updated for 2021 allowing integrating of a hitting area so you can practise sloping lies on your full swing too.

“Practising or coaching on a flat surface indoors doesn’t represent the reality of a sport which is, after all, played on predominately sloping surfaces. The new 2021 Zen Green Stage effectively creates a powerful, robust, digitally-controlled adjustable golf course for you to use indoors, at your home or in a golf studio.”

Zen founder Nick Middleton

Some of my favourite features of the new 2021 offering are the fact you can create all-direction movement so you can even recreate double-breaking putts at home. You can integrate putting and full swing options into the same set up. Just how big you can get the slopes set up. (Up to 8% slope up or downhill and 10% left or right.)

Stewart Golf

This is a serious bit of kit and I can’t think of any golfer who wouldn’t want to own one. But obviously all that technology comes at a cost with prices starting at just over £20,000 you’re going to have to be a hard core golfer to invest in this one.

I wish I had one for my best putters of 2020 video
