Mizuno JPX919 Forged Irons Review

How do the Mizuno JPX919 Forged irons compare to the JPX900?

Do the new JPX919 Forged irons out-perform the JPX900? Equipment editor James Savage put them head-to-head in this review

Mizuno JPX919 Forged irons review: The results

During our initial testing of the Mizuno JPX919 irons we found that the Forged model sat nicely between the three.

They offer a bit more distance and forgiveness than the Tour but they offer a crisper sound and feel than the Hot Metal.

When I went through my fitting the Forged were offering me more consistency than both the Tour and the Hot Metal.

The front to back dispersion was nice and tight and I really enjoyed the crisp sound and feel.

But how do the JPX919 Forged compare with the JPX900 Forged?

Well if I’m being honest there wasn’t a huge amount of difference in the performance on the launch monitor.

But that’s fine and I wouldn’t necessarily expect much difference.

There’s also a similar sound and feel with both and I’d be hard pushed to say one was better than the other.

But the JPX919 Forged to look a bit more stylish and classy.

Mizuno JPX919 Forged irons review: NCG Verdict

If you are currently using the JPX900 Forged then I won’t be telling you to rush out for the upgrade.

Unless you play a LOT of golf and they are a bit battered. And you like spending money on new, shiny things.

Mizuno JPX919 Forged Irons Review

If, like me, you’re looking for an iron that offers the best of both world’s then the JPX919 Forged are as good as it gets.

They will reward you on your good shots and they will be fairly kind on your bad shots.

And this is all while looking, sounding and feeling fantastic.

As a 15 handicap I feel like these irons will help me improve. I’m not going to grow out of them when I knock four or five shots off my handicap.
