Jason Day’s Nike deal made official
Jason Day is now officially a Nike player after signing a multi-year deal.
But Nike have stopped making golf clubs and balls so how does that work I hear you ask?
Well, the deal is for shoes, clothes, hat and glove – the world number one will still be playing TaylorMade clubs and balls.
Jason Day joins Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods as part of the Swoosh family whoich it underlines Nike’s commitment to remain relevant and continue to innovate in golf gear.
The Australian previously wore Nike gear before signing with Adidas and TaylorMade.
Adidas are currently trying to sell TaylorMade so the bond between the two isn’t what it once was.
It would appear Nike made Day an offer he couldn’t refuse rather than Adidas deciding to let the player go.
Adidas still have their ‘big three’ in Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Sergio Garcia.
Jason Day, 28, will wear his new Nike shoes, hat, clothes and glove at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii and insists it’s a dream come true.
“The brand is synonymous with the world’s best athletes,” Day said.
“I’m honoured and can’t wait to be part of the team and working closely with Nike to take my game, and the sport of golf, to even higher levels.”
Since turning pro in 2006, Day has secured ten PGA Tour titles and 57 top-ten finishes.
Day and his wife Ellie have established the Brighter Days Foundation which benefits local charities. For more information CLICK HERE
