The two-time European Amateur champion Ashley Chesters has turned professional and immediately signed on to represent the Oregon based Nike Golf.
The Shropshire-born player recorded European Amateur Championship wins in 2013 and 2014 – which earned him qualification for the 2014 and 2015 Open Championships.
After an impressive 12th place finish at the Home of Golf, 26-year old Chesters was part of the the GB&I team that successfully defended the Walker Cup at Royal Lytham and St Annes last month.
Chesters, who will now sport all Nike branded clothing and gear, said “‘I’m looking forward to teeing it up on Thursday for the first time as a professional and, having grown up playing Nike Golf equipment, it will be great to do so in Nike colours.”
“Nike Golf has a track record of utilizing their athletes when it comes to testing products and giving feedback to the engineering teams, and this is something I am extremely-excited about.
“I will continue to work hard to build on the success I achieved as an amateur now I have turned professional,’ he added.
Chesters first start as a professional will come at the Alfred Dunhill Championship challenge at Kingsbarns this weekend.
