TaylorMade Aeroburner woods and irons reader day
Four readers head to the TaylorMade Performance Centre at The Belfry to see if the TaylorMade Aeroburner range can improve their games
The Aeroburner range from TaylorMade is aimed at the golfer not looking to delve into technical settings and adjustability.
So we found four readers looking to simply ˜grip it and rip it’ and sent them to The Belfry’s TaylorMade Performance Centre to see which clubs from the range could improve their game…
Reader 1: Adam Carolan
Handicap: 18
Struggles with: Distance off the tee
WHAT THE TESTER SAID: I was struggling to hit it further than 200 yards with left to right shot shape. I was given a few swing tips but could feel the Aeroburner driver head moving faster through the air. I gained 30 yards of distance and was hitting straighter.
WHAT THE FITTER SAID: The new driver helped with launch and spin characteristics and was a good weight for Adam. It was ticking a lot of boxes and resulted in some good distance gains.
CLUB SELECTION: Aeroburner Driver 10.5, Stiff
Reader 2: Pat Roberts
Handicap: 20
Struggles with: Accuracy off the tee
WHAT THE TESTER SAID: I can usually hit it quite far but it often goes all over the place. With the Mini Driver I wasn’t compromising on distance at all as was hitting it 270 yards but the shot shape was more like a draw so was more controlled.
WHAT THE FITTER SAID: Pat was steep and chopping down onto the ball with his driver so the shorter shaft and smaller head allowed him to tee it lower but still deliver driver-like launch conditions
CLUB SELECTION: Aeroburner Mini, 12, Stiff
Reader 3: Edward Stubbs
Handicap: 16
Struggles with: Confidence with a fairway wood
WHAT THE TESTER SAID: I don’t feel happy hitting my current fairway wood off the deck. I was successfully launching the Aeroburner 3-wood quite easily with a bit of right to left spin rather than my usual fade.
WHAT THE FITTER SAID: The product really dd the work as the extra loft in the 3HL gave him confidence over the ball. His original shaft was regular flex but he swing at 100mph so a stiff really helped. Distance went from 190 to 230 yards.
CLUB SELECTION: Aeroburner 3-wood, HL, stiff
Reader 4: Shaun Mudalige
Handicap: 20
Struggles with: Consistency with irons
WHAT THE TESTER SAID: My current irons were bought online and were too short with a shaft that was too stiff. Once fitted into the Aeroburner irons, the spec was right for me and I gained 25 yards of distance.
WHAT THE FITTER SAID: He had extra stiff shafts so we changed to regular, gave him a more upright lie angle, added some length and he felt more comfortable with his set up. The mis-hits out of the heel and toe were also performing well.
CLUB SELECTION: Aeroburner Irons, regular shaft
