Is the Ping G410 LST driver for you?
Ping G410 LST driver review: Dan’s Verdict
This looks, feels and flies like a driver aimed at better players. What do I mean by that? Well, it sits slightly open, it’s a little less screechy off the face (but by no means dull) and the flight appears to be a touch flatter. It’s a high-quality driver – there’s no doubt about that.
If you are somebody who struggles into the wind, or whose drives start low and then climb on you, then this has got to be worth a look. A Ping G410 LST driver review has to start by looking at this spin-reducing element.
My personal view is that the G410 LST sits better than the G400 LST.
I struggled with the way the sole was designed on the latter and it felt to me that it either fell open or closed when I placed it behind the ball. The G410 LST doesn’t do that.
Compared to my current gamer, the G400 Max, the head is a little more compact, which makes it seem deeper.
There is also a change of shaft to factor in, from my current Project X Hzardus to the new Project X Evenflow Black 75. In theory, this is a very similar shaft – and the weight is identical – but it’s still another variable and I know from experience how easy it is to attribute performance characteristics to the head that are actually more shaft-related.
I’m also very used to looking at the Hzardus and it’s in my fairway woods as well. So I need to to get past that familiarity.
I’ll only really know if the G410 LST is the one for me after an extended period of testing but the early signs are highly promising and I’m looking forward to having it in the bag over the summer months so we can get to know each other better.
