How does the TravisMathew Premier 2.0 golf glove perform? Jonathan Taylor took one to the course to find out and discovered some entertaining touches
The TravisMathew brand was born in California in 2007 with the aim of creating golf gear for those seeking ultimate comfort with relaxed styling and a modern fit. It was bought by Callaway in 2017 and has been worn by the likes of Jon Rahm, when he won The Masters and US Open, as well as other Callaway staffers including Sam Burns and Akshay Bhatia. It’s also found favour with the likes of actors Chris Pratt and Adam Sandler.
I have tested several items of apparel and loved just about all of them so I was keen to try out the Premier 2.0 glove, one of no less than five styles offered by TravisMathew, all crafted from the finest Cabretta leather.
The Premier 2.0 is the most conservative-looking of the various models offered but still has some fun touches. Read on to find out more.
I don’t have any particular brand loyalty where golf gloves are concerned. This is the first TravisMathew glove I have tested, and I rather enjoyed the packaging, which was adorned with various amusing comments including ‘Fits like a glove’.
Of course, that all counts for nothing unless the product is of sufficient quality. The look, feel and even the smell of the Players 2.0 was all of the highest order. The leather is soft and flexible, but thick enough to be confident it wouldn’t wear out after a couple of rounds.
The TM website suggests that there is a choice of four colours but, currently, there are just two on offer- black or white. I tested the white colour which comes in five sizes from small to extra large. The medium fitted my medium hand just nicely. I’m not particularly fussy about having an overly tight fitting glove because in my experience a close fit is more likely to result in tearing around the back of the hand.

As with all the TravisMathew glove range, there is an adjustable tab closure for a customised fit, and there are multiple perforations for breathability.
On Course Testing
I’ve tested the Premier 2.0 over a dozen rounds and a similar number of practice sessions, generally in unseasonably fine and warm UK weather.
It has proved to be durable, with no significant signs of wear. It grips well as you would expect a Cabretta glove to do. There has been no discernible sign of loosening of fit. And it offers first class breathability in the warm and dry Spring that we are experiencing.
I can’t tell you anything about wet weather performance, because it hasn’t rained in weeks. Generally, anyhow, when it starts raining my leather glove comes off to be replaced by something designed for the wet.
I should add that there is a subtly embroidered message across the part of the glove covering the base of the fingers. TM call it a ‘grip location reminder to help your game and keep things lined up proper’. The message on my glove was ‘ Cash Please’. I have also seen ‘Insert beer here’. The message is hardly visible but it is the sort of feature that sets TM aside from most of the other brands. I liked it.
If you want to make more of a statement , then there are are number of more colourful glove designs such as the ‘Double Me’ and ‘Between The Lines’ , all constructed to the same high standard from premium materials.
To summarise, the Premier 2.0 is a first class product that I have enjoyed wearing. So far, it has done all that you expect and need from a glove. I suspect it will also put a smile on your face, which is never a bad thing.

It does come at a premium price so do look out for discounted offers, either directly from the TM website or from the usual retailers.
