WITB: Rickie Fowler | The Players Championship
After an agonising wait to see who would face him in a three hole playoff, Rickie Fowler held his nerve after 76 holes of tournament golf to seal victory over Kevin Kisner at TPC Sawgrass.
This was surprisingly only the second PGA Tour win for the young American, who has no doubt silenced his critics after recently being named the ‘most overrated player on Tour’ by his peers.
Rickie Fowler wins The Players Championship
The Players Championship is widely regarded – even amongst players – as the ‘Fifth Major’, and what a way for Fowler to claim his second Tour victory.
“It’s amazing,” said Fowler. “We obviously look at this tournament as one of the biggest that we play up against the Majors.”

Fowler will no doubt be hoping for more big performances in the coming months: “We finished it off strong and I think we’re back where we should be,” said Fowler.
The longest drive recorded during the tournament was none other than Fowler himself – a mammoth 336 yard effort from the eventual winner.
