With this win Day claimed his third win on the PGA Tour, and was his first win since winning last year’s WGC Accenture Match Play Championship.
After a year hampered by injury, the TaylorMade staffer came out on top in a four way playoff at Torrey Pines after the weather had threatened to intervene.
The win catapults the Australian up the official World Ranking leaderboard ahead of the Masters later this year.
Moving up to 4th in the World Rankings will give the 27-year old a big confidence boost for the rest of the season.
The Australian admitting he is now looking ahead to future tournaments: “Everything’s kind of trending that right direction for the Majors.
“This played like a US Open style golf course this week and I’m really looking forward to playing Augusta and the US Open.”
