Turkish Airlines Open fantasy picks

This week the European Tour heads to Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort for the 2018 Turkish Airlines Open.

Justin Rose broke 70 in all four of his rounds to defeat Nicolas Colsaerts and Dylan Frittelli by a single stroke at this event last year.

The win was the Englishman’s second win in successive weeks after being victorious at the 2017 WGC-HSBC Champions and it was also his 11th victory on the European Tour.

The aim of our fantasy game this year is to pick the right players to match the RankBuster. This week’s is set at 116 so who can you fit in your team to beat it? Here are my Turkish Airlines Open fantasy picks.

Tommy Fleetwood

Fantasy Rank: 2

Whenever Fleetwood is in the field it’s hard not to include him in your team.

The Englishman’s lowest finish since his missed cut at the Open de France was his T35 at the PGA Championship. In that time span he has had nine top 20 finishes with five of those being inside the top 10.

In his last three weeks he has finished T2 at the Alfred Dunhill Links, T9 at the British Masters and had a T7 finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions last week.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat WITB

Kiradech Aphibarnrat

Fantasy Rank: 9

Aphibarnrat comes off the back of a fantastic T4 finish in China last week in a field that included some of the biggest names in golf.

He’s also enjoyed success at Regnum Carya, with his worst finish being a T25 finish in 2016. His other two finishes came inside the top 10 with a T6 finish last year and a third place finish in 2015.

Mikko Korhonen

Fantasy Rank: 21

Korhonen hasn’t missed a cut since the Czech Masters and has three top 25 finish to his name since then, which includes a third place finish in his last outing on a tight Valderrama course.

He’s only played this event once in the last three years, which was in 2016 and he finished T31.

Jorge Campillo

Fantasy Rank: 27

Campillo hasn’t had the best couple of months with a missed cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links, disqualification at the Valderrama Masters and, last week, he finished 10 0ver par at the WGC-HSBC Champions.

However, the Spaniard comes into this tournament with good course form having finished inside the top 35 in the last three years. That includes two top 20 finishes.

Matthew Southgate

Matthew Southgate

Fantasy Rank: 30

Southgate hasn’t hit the best form in 2018 and comes into this event as a bit of a sleeper with his best finish in the last two months a T22 at the British Masters.

However, he’s another player who likes playing in this event and, in his last two starts here, he has finished T31 and T11.

Nacho Elvira

Fantasy Rank: 32

The Spaniard is a very streaky player but is capable of recording good finishes and hit a good run of form between August and September with three finishes inside the top 25 in three starts. That included a fourth place finish at the European Masters.

In his last two starts at the Turkish Airlines Open he has finished T30 and ninth.

Last week’s picks: Rory McIlroy (T54), Rafa Cabrera Bello (T14), Xander Schauffele (Win), Emiliano Grillo (T14), Eddie Pepperell (WD), Pat Perez (T37).
