Special Bets for Major Championship 2020
When the major golf season kicks off in a couple of months’ times (early April), many betters will be hoping their favorite player hits the final tee that’s enough to win them a windfall.
2019 was full of surprises with Tiger Woods making an improbable comeback at the Augusta National to win what would be his 15th career major title. Against all the odds with many punters and bookmakers giving him little chance, Mr Woods shook off stiff competition from the world number one Rory Mcllory 7-1, former PGA championship Dustin Johnson 10-1 and Justin Rose 14-1, to win his fifth Masters title.
For bookmakers and betters, the question is, will Tiger Woods replicate his 2019 Masters’ form in the new season?
Based on the odds board, Tiger Woods has a 10-1 chance of defending his Masters’ title when April rolls around. He is tied on the same odds with Rory Mcllory who would be looking to claim his first green jacket.
The two times PGA champion was voted PGA Player of the Year ahead of Brooks Koepka. The North Irishman has had a great start to the year winning the World Golf Championship in China, coming in at the top three in three PGA Tour events. Though, as many analysts suggest, Mcllory is overdue for a Masters win.
While Mcllory and Woods are currently tied on odds, many expect as the tournament draws near to see the value on offer to drop.
On Unibet Dustin Johnson is the 120-1 favorite to claim the first green jacket of his career. DJ has been among the top ten best golfers in the world for several years now, but surprisingly, he only has one major trophy to show for it – the 2016 US Open.
Dustin has been a runner-up on two occasions in the last year; one was as a runner up at the 2019 PGA Championship and the Masters where Tiger Woods defeated him. He has consistently made top 10 in the last couple of years which puts him as one of the favorites to win a Major title in 2020.
Jordan Spieth is without doubt one of the brightest stars on the PGA Tour since his debut. He won his first PGA title in 2013 and two years later won the Masters, the U.S Open and nearly completed the Grand Slam.
However, just as with his phenomenal rise to the world stage, he has been struggling since his last “regular” tournament win in the 2017 Travelers Championship. Priced at 275-1 by the oddsmakers to win a major in 2020, Spieth’s best chances come at the Augusta National where he won his only Masters title and became two-times runner-up.
Regardless of his recent lack of major successes, one thing is sure, Jordan Spieth has shown he knows how to play on the Augusta National and any golf fan discounting him might come to regret it.
Ron Rahm, the 25 years-old Spanish golfer is another ‘sneaky pick’ most golf fans hope would translate his PGA Tour successes into a major title. Granted, he still has time on his side, but since his debut in 2016, his fans hope he has learned how to manage his fiery personality on the course.
He is priced at 12-1 to win a Major title in 2020. And, according to thescore, Rahm is better suited to go all the way in the U.S. Open Championship with his length and accuracy off the tee, top iron play and canny ability to make big putts.
Brooks Koepka is the top player going into this year’s golf season. And, it is not surprising that the four major tournaments all price him at 7-1 to win the championship.
The four-time major winner will be looking to add to his title collection when the competitions kick off properly in April while betters and golf enthusiasts, on the other hand, would be hoping he has recovered from a nagging knee injury he’s nursing for a while.
