RSM Classic betting tips and preview: Who will win?
Billy Horschel (14/1) is a justifiable second-favourite in this field with both course form and recent form in his favour.
The Florida-based American had a good 2019 without recording a victory but has been a key player in recent weeks. A tied 6th at the Zozo Championship a few weeks ago and a tied 8th at the Mayakoba last weekend have him in good form and full of confidence.
He returns to this event having teed it up just once in the last six years. However, a three-year absence prior to that start seemed to do him good as he grabbed a share of second.
His last win came more than 18 months ago so he is well overdue a return to the winners’ circle.
Harris English (28/1) has been a regular in the top section of leaderboards since the 2020 PGA Tour season began and just hasn’t quite been able to get the job done.
With three top 5s and a top 10 in his first five starts the American has a brilliant chance of challenging again this week.
This tournament has seen its fair share of maiden winners and comeback victories and English fits this bill having not won on tour since 2013.
Another American who has been playing some good stuff recently is Brian Gay (40/1).
The 47-year-old has two top 10s in his last three starts and is coming off the back of a top 15 in Mexico which included a hole-in-one.
He is also without a victory since 2013 but has had two top 5s here in his last four outings so those good memories could work in his favour. It would be wise to opt for the each-way option at this price.
RSM Classic betting tips and preview: Outside bets
Patrick Rodgers (125/1) is available at a considerably bigger price but for me is a strong pick who could well return on each-way bets if he’s on his game.
He’s performed well at this tournament in the past with his best finish coming just twelve months ago when he finished 2nd.
He also had a top 10 finish two years before and so this represents a good opportunity for the American to grab his first PGA Tour win.
Bo Hoag (140/1) looks a good each-way outsider. The 31-year-old is a rookie on the PGA Tour and has recorded finishes of tied 11th and tied 20th in his last two starts. His first visit to this tournament could be turnout to be fruitful for players and punters alike.
