Luke Donald is a former world number one and five-time winner on the PGA Tour. Here he shows us how to play a high pitch shot when you find yourself way right or left of the pin with minimal green to work with..

Luke uses his 60 degree Mizuno S5 wedge when playing this shot. He puts the ball quite far forward in his stance and makes sure he takes a bigger swing than he would on a normal pitch shot.

This helps create more speed through the ball and with the club face open at impact, Luke generates the height he needs to make the ball stop near the hole.

The key point in this tip is to try and make the ball land softly and not run away from the hole. Keeping the blade of the club open and generating speed through the ball will help achieve this.
