I’m sure you have all seen Jason Day hit the ball 285 yards left-handed. If not, here you go…

Impressive right? Well we thought we would give it a go ourselves down at Moor Allerton and invite along our Anonymous Big Hitter as well.
First up was ABH and a little birdie told us that recently he played a round of golf left handed and shot 12 over par. So this should be rather effortless for the big man.
A smooth confident swing later and he had easily cleared the 200 yard marker.
None of us amateurs would even get close to that, so we sent ABH home and carried on the challenge.
Next up was digital editor and 14 handicap golfer Alex Perry. As our most recent addition to the team the pressure was really on Alex to impress. His first went about five yards, his second was an air shot, and his third went about three yards. Solid stuff Alex.
Equipment editor James Savage was up next. He wasn’t as confident as ABH but he didn’t shy away from the challenge.
After two air shots, James made good contact with his third attempt and watched the ball trickle towards the 100-yard marker.
On the tee next was me, a 13 handicap golfer with a dodgy looking normal swing, so I was dreading watching my left handed attempt back.
However, much to my amazement I wasn’t actually that bad at this challenge. My first shot was an ugly runner to about 90 yards, but my second was a little fade to about 130 yards. Lovely.
Last up was our social media guru Joe Urquhart. Joe is a very good 24 handicap golfer with a very nice swing. With the left-hand club in his hand though his earlier confidence seemed to disappear.
The lack of confidence wasn’t helped by a complete air shot to start. His following shots made contact but both were low runners, one straight ahead and the other plummeting into the trees. Shame.
It was safe to say that none of us were going to get anywhere near Jason Day or ABH, but the results were as follows:
1st: Craig (130 yards)
2nd: James (90 yards)
3rd: Joe (75 yards)
4th: Alex (4 yards)
