Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau blast OWGR 'lies' after LIV Golf snubbing

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have slammed the Official World Golf Ranking’s decision to prolong affording LIV Golf points after the league’s latest attempts were snubbed by the organisation.

The Greg Norman-led series thought they had found a loop hole into the system after merging with the MENA Tour, only to be denied less than 24 hours ahead of LIV Golf Bangkok.

Speaking after the first round at Stonehill, DeChambeau and Koepka have now vented their frustration at the OWGR, accusing the organisation of ‘fence sitting’ and ‘lying’ to the public over LIV’s desire to obtain points.

“I don’t think it was really much of a response.” Koepka said following the announcement. “I just hate when you sit on the fence. Pick a side. It’s either yes or no. Pick one.

“To not say something that’s really an answer, and to say ‘we’ll think about it’, I don’t agree with. Just pick a side. If it’s no, that’s fine, we’ll figure it out from there.”

DeChambeau – who has been one of LIV’s most vocal supporters amid the ongoing turmoil – then went a step further, bashing the OWGR’s “crazy” decision before listing several reasons why his league “deserves” world ranking points.

“I mean, they’re delaying the inevitable. We’ve hit every mark in their criteria.” DeChambeau said. “For us not to get points is kinda crazy with having the, at least I believe, the top players in the world. Not all of them, but we certainly believe there’s enough that are in the top 50.

“We deserve to be getting world ranking points. If they keep holding it back, they’re just going to keep playing a waiting game where we’re going to keep dropping down in the rankings to where our points won’t ever matter. And that’s what they’re trying to accomplish.

“I hope people can see right through that and stop believing the lies that they’re been told. From my perspective, I believe we deserve points. It can still be retroactive, so I hope they give it to us.”
