WITB: Jason Dufner – The Memorial
Jason Dufner is one of Titleist’s main men when it comes to equipment. The former PGA champion is usually on the scene when it comes to testing new balls, woods irons and wedges.
And he pretty much relied on a full bag of the latest Titleist equipment for his victory at the Memorial where he beat Rickie Fowler and Anirban Lahiri by three shots.
Dufner uses the new Pro V1x golf ball, 917D2 driver, 915F fairway, 716 AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM6 gap, sand and lob wedges, and Scotty Cameron Futura 5S putter.
It’s interesting to see him using a 21-degree 7-wood which is very rare on tour these days. The last person I saw using a 7-wood was my mum…
But it’s doing the job for Dufman who sealed his fifth career PGA Tour victory with a four-under par final round of 68.
He also stuck a cheeky Callaway X2 Hot 3 wood in the bag at Memorial – a fantastic range from about three years ago.
“I’ve always been a fighter, especially since I’ve turned professional,” Dufner said.
“Doing this hasn’t come easy for me. There’s been a lot of struggles and a lot of setbacks. I didn’t come straight out of college and play the PGA Tour.
“It took me almost 10 years to get out here. Took me another two after that to win and actually get to where I felt comfortable.”
