Scott Oxley is the head teaching professional at Moor Allerton Golf club in Leeds. Here he shows us a very simple drill to help you produce better pitch shots.
Scott notices that better players control their pitch shots with the trunk of their body and they don’t allow their wrists to flick down at the ball or get too much steepness on the downswing.
Scott tells us when pitching to imagine an aeroplane landing, you want to be shallowing the nose of the aeroplane out and skidding. Scott would like you to feel the sole of the club skidding the ground rather than taking a big divot.
When you take a few practise swings try and feel like your arms and chest are working together, shallow out the golf club and use your torso to control the distance.
