Fantasy Golf: Who to select for the US Open?June 10, 2014 Golf News
The second major championship of the season has arrived which means there are points galore up for grabs in our TaylorMade Fantasy Golf game.
The US Open at Pinehurst No.2 sees all the top names of the PGA Tour and European Tour in action with only Tiger Woods and Thomas Bjorn out through injury.
Make sure your team is in good shape to stay in contention for the overall prize and compete for monthly TaylorMade prizes.
The trick for this week could be finding players from the lower groups who are teeing it up at Pinehurst.
However, players who miss the cut will cost you minus points so you may want to focus on making your three changes from the middle groups.
Group 7 features a number of winners on the PGA Tour this year including John Senden, Kevin Stadler and Matt Every. It also features past winners Geoff Ogilvy and Lucas Glover.
Last week’s winner Ben Crane is in group 6 along with two-time champion Retief Goosen and former Open champion Justin Leonard.
Group 5 features a number of qualifiers and those who just made the field on their world rankings including Danny Willett, Kevin Na and Paul Casey.
There aren’t many names to chose from in group 4 but big-hitting American Gary Woodland could be an attractive option.
FedEx cup leader Jimmy Walker is once again a stand-out pick from group 3 along with Bernd Wiesberger, Stephen Gallacher, Harris English and Billy Horschel.
It’s a case of ‘take your pick’ from groups 1 and 2 where all the pre-tournament favourites sit.
Captain selection could be the deciding factor with an extra 50 per cent on all points scored with your skipper scoring double.
