What's in DJ's winning bag?February 24, 2019 Golf Equipment
The American made some slight tweaks to his bag ahead of this week's tournament. We take a look at his winning clubs
Despite earning his first victory of 2019 with the TaylorMade M6 at the Saudi International, DJ soon changed back to the M5 model for his win at the WGC-Mexico Championship.
We could see him change his driver throughout the year as TaylorMade have said that he is likely to continue working with both models moving forward.
Johnson has kept the M5 fairway wood in his setup, complete with the Project X’s HZRDUS Black X shaft – the same shaft he carried in his fairways last season.
Moving down the bag, DJ opted to go with the TaylorMade P790 3-iron in Mexico, and like last year, he is using the P730 DJ Proto irons. As for most of his career, the irons carry the True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts.
DJ continues to use TaylorMade’s Milled Grind wedges and opted to go with 52° and 60° lofts.
For this week he added a 64° TaylorMade Hi-Toe and all his wedges are equipped with his trusted KBS Tour 120S shafts.
Johnson has found much success with the TaylorMade Spider Tour putter over the last few years, and put it to good use in Mexico, carding 22 birdies and 1 eagle on his way to victory.
The American’s second win of the season is also the third for the 2019 TaylorMade TP5x ball following Rickie Fowler’s victory at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
