DJ earned his first regular European Tour victory and 20th overall as he edged out the rest of the field at the inaugural Saudi International.
And it was the first win for TaylorMade’s new M6 driver featuring the company’s Twist Face technology.
Johnson began the season with the M5 in the bag, but after some shaft testing in a bid to increase his ball speed to the 185mph mark, he opted for the more forgiving M6.
TaylorMade say he is likely to continue working with both models moving forward.
Johnson has kept the M5 fairway wood in his setup, complete with the Project X’s HZRDUS Black X shaft – the same shaft he carried in his fairways last season.
Moving down the bag, DJ continues to choose the P790 2-iron instead of a high lofted fairway and, like last year, he is using the P730 DJ Proto irons. As for most of his career, the irons carry the True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 shafts.
Also not changing is his wedge setup. DJ continues to use TaylorMade’s Milled Grind Hi-Toe family in 54- and 60-degree lofts, equipped with KBS Tour 120S shafts.
Johnson has found much success with the TaylorMade Spider Tour putter over the last few years, and put it to good use in Saudi Arabia, carding 22 birdies and an eagle at Royal Greens.
