Callaway Big & Tall Allover Tie Dye Foulard Print Golf Polo review: First Impressions

When you’re looking for new apparel, first impressions are key, and Callaway have hit the nail right on the head in this department. The sleek design of this polo is giving me tour pro vibes!

I tested the caviar pattern in this polo. A great plus to this polo range is Callaway offers a vast line-up of different designs, so there’s a top here for everyone, whether you want a more basic solid colour option or something more out there.

This caviar colour option works great with any trouser colour, so there’s no need to worry about pairing it with a certain shade to try and look the part. Up close there is lots of extra detailing, including small flowers in the main white dot patterning. These offer a nice degree of balance to the aesthetics of the shirt.

The buttons bear very small Callaway Branding to them and there is also the official Callaway logo just above the second button. I would have preferred the button text and the logo to be in white as that would have really made them ‘pop’. But if you’re someone who prefers subtle branding, this works perfectly.

Callaway Big & Tall Allover Tie Dye Foulard Print Golf Polo review: On The Course

I am about 177cm in height and wear a UK size small top, I found the small fitted very nicely. You’d usually expect a short-sleeved polo shirt such as this one to only come out of the wardrobe during the summer months, but the technology in the shirt allows for more than that. The material is surprisingly thick and can be worn over a base layer or under a mid-layer during colder conditions.

It is likely this will be most popular during the summer, and it’ll perform superbly at that time. The Opti-Dri technology’s moisture-wicking properties are ideal for golfers who are prone to sweating.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also the Opti-Shield technology for added sun protection. Sun protection in a polo shirt? Yes, you heard that correctly.

It has a ribbed collar which sits at the base of your neck seamlessly and is constructed from a comfortable stretchy material. The polo features Opti-Stretch Technology, which provides noticeably less restriction and more stretch to maximise your range of motion on every swing.

Furthermore, Callaway’s very own Swing Tech technology adds to the technological innovation behind this shirt. Through special seam construction and materials, Callaway can provide golfers with less restriction and more stretch to maximise range of motion in every swing. This revolutionary technology was introduced in 2019 and can also be found in Callaway’s range of shorts and outerwear.

Overall, the polo shirt is incredibly lightweight too, but kept the wind at bay when it did decide to come out.

This colour is probably the sleekest of all the options available. It has the potential to be worn on a night out down at your local pub, and I know that because I have done it! The chill factor does come into play at this time of the year, so I paired it with Callaway’s padded vest and I actually had some very positive comments about my outfit.

This polo shirt would be most popular during summer months with its moisture-wicking capabilities, but it’s a top that can be paired with a mid-layer/base layer combination. It did start drizzling at times throughout my round when I tested it, and it dried quickly, which was nice to see.

It comes in at £55, which is at the premium end for a polo shirt, but I think the price is justified as it’s packed with technology and looks superb.
