Betting tips: Mahan could be the man at The Barclays

Who is worth a bet at the PGA Tour's The Barclays tournament?

Another week, another chance to gain those Fantasy Golf points. On the PGA Tour this week we have The Barclays, offering a great opportunity to pick up some points with a large field of top quality players to choose from.

We have selected Hunter Mahan as our main pick this week, the defending champion is available at odds of 140/1. Definitely worthy of an e/w bet and a spot in your fantasy team.

Check out what Mahan had to say about Jordan Spieth here – note this was a joke…we think…

Our second fantasy pick is Bill Haas, a T6 finish last week and a T15 at The Barclays last year prove he is capable of a decent finish – and decent point gains for your side. Haas is available at 60/1 – which shows the bookies believe he may have a steady Top 20 chance.

And now to the favourites.

It will come as no surprise that the new World Number One – Jordan Spieth – is the overwhelming favourite to take the Westchester title. Spieth is available at 11/2 and it would be a no-brainer to not punt on the 22-year old, who consistently challenges this season.

Recent U.S. PGA Championship winner Jason Day has finally got that Major monkey off his back and although one of the favourites, I feel that it wouldn’t be a wise bet on the Australian. You can get Day at odds of 17/2.

Englishman Justin Rose has been a regular name towards the top of almost every tournament leaderboard he has entered this season, available at 11/1 – definitely worth £5 e/w on the former U.S. Open winner.

Dustin Johnson, who has made a habit of collapsing at the Majors is available for those foolhardy enough alongside Rose at 11/1. Maybe we’ll see him making up for his poor showing at Whistling Straits?

Many have selected Brooks Koepka as their pick for the Barclays, and it would be foolish not to have the American in our list. A sensible bet, Koepka – of his last 18 rounds, 16 have been in the 60s. It’s also hard to believe he only has one win this season with those kind of stats.
