American Golf to sponsor Sky Sports coverage
Europe’s largest golf retailer, American Golf, has struck a deal with Sky Sports to sponsor television coverage of the game.
The sponsorship will give the brand a presence across all European Tour, World Golf Championship and US PGA Tour events, starting with the WGC Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral this week.
“We are as passionate about golf as the people who watch it,” said American Golf’s head of marketing Daniel Gathercole.
‘We are committed to investing in growing the game’ “By sponsoring the golf on Sky Sports we will be right there with avid golf fans week in, week out which is really exciting for us. We are committed to investing in growing the game and working with Sky Sports is a really important vehicle to achieving that.”
As part of the deal, American Golf will receive sponsorship images around the broadcast coverage, a presence on skysports.com, the mobile App, Sky Go and On Demand.
The sponsorship deal will run for six months and is an extension of the American Golf campaign that is built around improving customers’ games. American Golf is using one of its own staff members, PGA professional Andrew Moseley, as the face of the campaign.
Head of sponsorship at Sky Media is David Shore and he said: “This is a huge year for golf on Sky Sports so it is the perfect place for American Golf to engage with its current and new customers.”
